Delivering Thanks

This weekend is a special time of year in Canada. More than just one meal or one day, it’s about all that we have in our lives. Our families and friends, our comfy homes, meals on our tables, clothes on our backs and all the little (and not so little) extras that we enjoy. So this year, after the parade, when the turkey and cranberries have been served and we are sitting back enjoying the people surrounding us, let’s take some time to be thankful, not only for what we have around us, but also for the men and women that literally delivered all of it to us. Let’s be thankful for truck drivers!

The shelves in our well stocked grocery stores are full because truckers delivered those turkeys, cranberries, buns, potatoes, beverages and everything other component of the meals we will enjoy. Many floats in our parade can only roll past us with the help of big hearted az truck drivers. Even many of the people that gather around our table are there because they are supported by the hard work and dedication of the people that have accepted the challenge of our country’s short and long haul truck driver jobs. Whether your guests came to your table from hundreds of miles away via plane or from the other side of town in their automobile, at the very minimum there was fuel delivered by truck that made their trip possible!

While most of us enjoy a day off to celebrate Thanksgiving (as well as most other holidays), there are truck drivers on the road 24/7, 365 days a year, making sure we have all of things that we need and want. Some miss turkey dinners with their families so we can spend time with our own. While dispatchers work hard to schedule home time for their driving force around the holidays, some drivers will be out navigating heavy holiday traffic, tough regulations and sometimes brutal weather to meet their deadlines. As consumers of all that they bring, we should be thankful for these truckers. So let’s all take a minute to consider how everything we have gets to us, and be thankful for the people that make it possible!
